At the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council, we initiate important regional development projects. We find and bring together the most suitable partners and financiers for projects born out of the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Programme. Naturally, we also implement projects using our own resources.

In partnership with leading European innovation valleys, Helsinki-Uusimaa is carrying out the project European Circular Innovation Valley, the ECIV. The ECIV project aims to build Europe’s largest circular economy innovation ecosystem, driving sustainable development and collaboration across the continent.

The project Helsinki-Uusimaa Cultural Market improved the equal availability of culture and the employment of artists and freelancers in creative industry. All 26 regional municipalities were taking part in the project.

KOPPI: Regional home bases – supporting and piloting the green deal in circular economy
The regions of Helsinki-Uusimaa and Pirkanmaa will be focusing on assisting municipalities in setting and achieving objectives for circular economy. A circular economy is a method for the municipalities to reach climate goals and to save in materials and costs, also to create economic development and security of supply.

International Peer Review: Draft Regional Programme aligns with EU goals
The Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council organised an international peer review at the beginning of October together with the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform. European regional development experts analysed the draft Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Programme for 2026–2029 and provided recommendations for its development and implementation.
